We recently created an interactive GigaPixel Image of the Super14 Final at Orlando Stadium.
Now we want to do something even cooler, more spectacular and MUCH more ambitious.
We want to create a 360º GigaPixel Image of the World Cup Finals - but this time, we need your help to make it happen.
The GigaPixel Image
I can bore you with the technical details, but the best way to understand why this image is unique, is to interact with it yourself.
1. Open by click on the image below ; 2. Click and drag to look around; 3. Zoom into the crowd by using the controls.
You will find that we basically took a group photo of 40 000 spectators.
The really fun part is that you can tag and share interesting views by double clicking on anything you find – give it a go.
The World Cup Final
We think that a GigaPixel image of the World Cup Finals would be BRILLIANT!!
It would be like a group photo of the Rainbow Nation. Something we could show our children and be proud of.
That is why we’re taking the liberty of asking you for your help.
We’ll do it for free – if you can help us get permission to do so – and surprise, surprise, we think you can!
In search of Mr or Mrs X
As with most things in life, there is in fact one person who can give us permission to do this.
One person who can allow us the 5 minutes needed to capture a GigaPixel Image of the Finals.
The problem is: we don’t know who that one person is and we don’t have much time to find him/her.
That’s where you come in.
It is said that everyone is connected to everyone else through a maximum of 6 degrees of separation.
So, although you might not be the person with the authority to give us access, if the theory holds:
you know someone, who knows someone, who knows someone, who knows someone, who knows someone – who knows the mysterious Mr or Mrs X.
Making the Dream a 360º Reality
Here’s what we will do to make this happen: we will create this image for free and put it online for everyone to enjoy.
Here’s what you can do to help:
1. Show your support by doing one or all of the following:
- follow our specially created Twitter profile
- write your support, suggestions or idea’s below as a comment
- join our Facebook page
2. Send this message on to someone who might be one step closer to Mr or Mrs X
- click here below on the ‘ShareThis’ button and then email this blog post to someone who you think might be able to help.
- please tell them why you think they should pass it on – it always helps if the request is a personal one
Our hope is that Mr or Mrs X will soon receive a flood of emails from friends and colleagues, introducing him/her to this technology and encouraging them to contact us.
The more people supporting the concept, the more people will spread the idea, the better chance we find our mystery person of authority - so please, share like you’ve never shared before.
We hope to be reporting on some good news soon.
With your help – this could be GREAT!!

Hi Gerald, we would love to have captured the World Cup football games with our technology, but unfortunately we were not able to get permission to do so. Sorry
What is the point in bringing the world cup soccer to Africa and then trying to give it a European feel? I think that the vuvus adds to the atmoshere of the game and the sound of a vuvu is recognised all over South Africa as the sound of soccer. The vuvus has never been a problem in RSA before the world cup, because our provincial teams usually play infront of a 5000 – 20 000 crowd, and maybe a hundred people then have vuvuzelas. and that doesnt make alot of noise or create any problems. Now with the World Cup in SA, for the first time you have 40 000 – 70 000 people at a stadium with +- 35 000 vuvuzelas. Yes, the vuvus does make a lot of noise, but I dont think they must ban it at soccer matches in Africa. They can ban it in the UK, USA….at the next world cups in Brazil, England….but when will the world cup EVER be hosted by an African country again? IT IS HERE…and only for 4 weeks! ! ! I have been to 2 world cup matches and I cant wait to go to the next 2 matches with 35 000 vuvuzellas!!
Sounds like a brilliant idea Tinus! Will spread the word as best we can. Keep us posted!

As a SA living in the USA, I think the VUVU buzz is getting too much. As a spectator, I would avoid attending matches for that reason. …..
Type your comment here…fantastic idea would love to see a pic of the final done in your special amazing style.
