About a 18 months ago, the Virtual Africa crew had an important decision to make: “Go big or go Home”.

Luckily, we decided to GO BIG .

We invested everything we had and committed as much awake time humanly possible to one single goal : to transform our little South African 360º photography business into the innovation leader we know we can and should be.

Today is a big day for us, because we’re launching the first of several new projects, created as a result of our decision to “GO BIG”.

Meet

Seeing that 360º photography has proliferated so much (StreetView, GigaPixel Images, real estate, toursm etc.) it now makes sense to have sites dedicated to using the technology to show off specific subjects to specific users.

In short, and as you will see from stadiums.in3sixty, 360º photography has matured to such a level that the need has arisen for sites, not primarily about 360º photography, but sites using 360º photography – and using it to it’s full potential.

Enough of the boring philosophy talk, what can you expect at stadiums.in3sixty?

1. 360º virtual tours of all 10 Soccer World Cup Stadiums

> Full Screen, Interactive and beautiful

2. Share your own panoramic images

>if you’ve ever stitched a panoramic image and want it displayed in the way we display ours (interactive, full screen etc), go the the ‘Share your Pano ” section and register to do so. We’ve built a system to display our own images in this way and we’re starting to open it up to the public. It’s REALLY cool, and you’re invited……

3. Embed our 360º content on your site

We’re allowing bloggers and site owners to embed our content into their own sites. If you’re either, just drop us a mail via the ‘cotanct us’ section.

Right, that’s Project 1 of ‘GO BIG’ done and dusted, project two is even bigger and much much cooler…….

Details to follow in the next post.

This is the big one

  1. John Gore says:

Congrats on another project well done! Stadiums are all looking good, can’t wait for world cup to start!

It was a pleasure to be a part of this project.

PS: Have to just add: Durban is getting all the votes and the views. People seem to like Durban stadium over Cape Town ! (hehe, just jokes buddy! :D )
