These gigapixel panorama,s are great !!!

How did you take the photo,s did you start at 0 and end at the 180 degree mark when camera is mounted on tripod and what kind of camera and lens did you use ? I heard that you will need at least a 70mm-200mm lens to take such HD panorama,s with a special router device to move camera on tripod.
